The DOST-FNRI in collaboration with East-West Seed Company, Inc. (EWSC) is undertaking the Project Oh My Gulay! sa FNRI to address the declining consumption of fruits and vegetables.
Based on the results of FNRI consumption survey data, vegetable intake of Filipinos has been declining from 1978 to 1993 and slightly increasing from 2003 to 2013. The consumption of Filipinos for vegetables increased by four grams only, from 110 grams per capita per day in 2008 to 114 grams per capita per day in 2013.

As part of the activities of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the BIOTECH Japan (BTJ) Corporation, the Department of Science and Technology - Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) headed by its Director, Dr. Mario V. Capanzana visited Niigata, Japan on April 17-22, 2017 for the Project entitled “Verification Survey with the Private Sector for Utilizing and Disseminating Japanese Technologies for Low Protein Rice for Dietary Therapy of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in the Philippines”.

The first ever dissemination forum of the Local Level Food Health and Nutrition Survey (LFHNS) was conducted at Villa Lorenzo Resort, Pulilan, Bulacan on November 8, 2016. The municipality was the pilot site of the LFHNS which aimed to present nutrition and health data disaggregated at the provincial and municipal levels.
