A clear-sighted, supportive and empowered woman is behind the leadership of the Department of Science and Technology’s Food and Nutrition Research Institute’s (DOST-FNRI) – Dr. Imelda Angeles-Agdeppa, also a Scientist II, is the newly-appointed and 8th DOST-FNRI Director, succeeding Dr. Mario V. Capanzana who retired in August 2020.

Results of the study on virgin coconut oil (VCO) as dietary supplement among COVID-19 probable and suspect cases showed that 5 of the 29 patients who were served meals with VCO manifested diminishing signs and symptoms as early as the second day, while only one patient served with the same meals but without VCO showed similar improvement.

The Department of Science and Technology’s– Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) conducted a virtual business forum for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) of Region VI on January 27, 2021. This aims to promote DOST-FNRI technology transfer services in Western Visayas.

The Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) is conducting the online dissemination of results of the 2019 Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) in 39 provinces and highly-urbanized cities (HUCs) starting October 20, 2020 until November 20, 2020.
