IN PHOTOS: The DOST-FNRI met the Philippine Army’s (PA) Office of the Army Chief Surgeon on January 17, 2024, to explore services related to the Meal Ready-to-Eat (MRE) products that the Army needs in field operations.

The PA seeks to have its MRE undergo laboratory analysis to check the sufficiency of nutrients according to requirements and standards, shelf-life, safety, and suitability for field operations conditions.

DOST-FNRI also offered its training services for the PA’s nutritionists, health officers, mess hall managers, and food handlers on meal management and food safety.
The PA will also be linked to technology licensees producing food products that may be appropriate for field operations. Recommended food product specifications for bidding requirements of MRE will also be provided by DOST-FNRI.
